Sami Von GoberSami has held leadership positions in multiple Orfalea College of Business clubs and is the first undergraduate student from Cal Poly to get an internship at Goldman Sachs for investment banking.
Leadership can be defined by the three pillars of individual development, team engagement and empowerment of others. Sami is the true embodiment of these attributes. Growing up in Sonoma, CA, Sami entered Cal Poly with a fierce curiosity to learn far beyond the scope of a classroom. She soon established herself as a bold leader and recognized her innate ability to effectively collaborate on teams. Throughout her collegiate journey, Sami has held executive positions within the Investment Banking Society and Women in Business, currently serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council and is President of OCOB Ambassadors. When does she sleep? No one is quite sure, but Sami always finds time for her deeply-rooted passion for building up others.
As my mentor, she recognizes my fears, reassures my capabilities and pushes me towards my goals constantly. Her unwavering support re-instills my confidence on days when I do not believe in myself, as I know she will remind me of my strength. I am only one example. Sami’s compassion is her driving force as she is a true inspiration and valuable resource for many women seeking guidance within finance. I am inexplicably thankful to experience her mentorship, and I look forward to watching her rule the world one day. Written by: Lauren Chamberlain, mentee |
