Vivian CheungVivian is a leader at Change Catalyst, an organization striving to make the tech industry more inclusive. She also mentored survivors of physical and sexual abuse at a group home in Mexico City.
Vivian leaves Cal Poly with a huge range of impactful experiences that she created for herself, including two co-ops for Toyota and volunteer work for Change Catalyst, an organization striving to make the tech industry more inclusive. The summer after her sophomore year, Vivian mentored girls who were survivors of physical and sexual abuse at a group home in Mexico City. This was a challenging experience -- an unfamiliar culture and the emotional toll of serving a vulnerable population -- but Vivian embraced it as a learning experience and created an innovative project to give voice to the girls’ stories and raise money for their group home. This experience perfectly defines why working with Vivian is so gratifying: Guided by her strongly-held values, she makes the absolute most of every opportunity she creates to positively impact her world.
Vivian graduates this year with a degree in Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies. This summer, she will serve as a Product Management Fellow at the National Institute of Health in Washington, D.C. as part of the highly-competitive Coding It Forward Civic Digital Fellowship.
